This Month in Pickleball

We’ve packed this email with a lot of information.  Almost as if it was a newsletter and a major update…

Our New Pickleball Home is getting closer to be being turned over to us.

Peter Nan has been supervising progress and keeping everything on track.

While it is OK, to watch and observe the day to day activities, we’re asked to stay OFF the surface and refrain from entering the courts until we have an official green light. Even if the gate is open (ignore the temptation)  Particularly during this stage of final surface coatings, the extra traffic and interruptions is a concern from our developer.

The official Location Of the Red Deer  Pickleball Club will be…

  • Motorworks Fields on Agora Campus. located at 2700 67 Street, Red Deer

The Official Grand Opening is…

  • When: Tuesday June 25th
  • Time: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Official Opening Ceremony at 415 :PM
  • Where: Motorworks Fields on Agora Campus. located at 2700 67 Street, Red Deer.

Court Hosts Needed!

You like to Play Pickleball, and we need someone that can open up the courts and close up shop on select days and times.  Without these vital volunteers, there will be no play.  Sign up with Alida to be a host.

Yes we have a form for that HERE.

Learn to Play Pickleball?

Did you know, that we have over 200 members, and continue to grow?  We have a team of Pickleball Trainers and Coaches who have begun hosting intro pickleball lessons, and taking that “raw rookie” to a 2.5 level player.

Jane White and her team are rolling out Boot Camps in the near future (watch for updates when we have that finalized).  Meet our trainers and coaches here.

Thank you to all of our members as we launched our first ever online event with paid registrations using our platform.  We’re learning and you get to be our testers.  We’re tweaking our messages and processes for smoother events in the future.

Where is the Pickleball Schedule?

Google Calendar (add to Outlook, Add to Google Calendar,)

The RDPC Website

Please note that when courts are reserved for scheduled play, there is ALWAYS drop-in or open courts (7,8&9). Courts are reserved for a variety of play, beginner play (2.0&2.5), advanced play (3.5+) etc.  Also courts are reserved for Women and Men’s round robins.  It does NOT mean that other players are unwelcome, it just signifies that some courts are reserved for scheduled play of a certain type.  There are ALWAYS open courts (7,8&9) grab a buddy or three and hit courts 7,8&9 anyone one can play there.

Note, the number of and types of courts reserved will change once we move.

Do You Like Tournaments?

We presently have over 300 players registered for the Red Deer Open Provincial ChampionshipFri 08/09/19 thru Sun 08/11/19.

Avoid the rush, sign up to Volunteer with Gene Vollmin and help us host the best darn tournament ever!  Click Here to Volunteer.

What ball will we be using?  The Durafast 40 in lime green is our official ball.  This is made possible from a generous contribution from Pickleball Central.

IS the June tournament a go?

NO. Due to the current construction and completion schedule of our new courts we had to cancel the RDPC Jamboree scheduled for June of this year.  The washroom facilities will not be ready by then.

Learn To Be A Referee

Increase your knowledge of the game, and be ready to volunteer to be a referee in August at the Provincial Championship.  We’ll need more referees than ever before.  All skill levels of play are needed. (PS. It’s a great way to watch and take in play to enhance your own).
